Jason Wilson is a Lecturer in Digital Communications at the University of Wollongong.

In 2008 he was E-Democracy Director at online campaigning organisation, GetUp!

In 2007 and 2008, he was project manager and editor on youdecide2007 ,  researching citizen journalism and the political blogosphere as part of an ARC linkage project headquartered in QUT’s Creative Industries Faculty.

Previously, Jason worked at the Research Institute for Media Art and Design at the University of Bedfordshire, and was on the editorial team of Convergence: The International Journal of Research into New Media Technologies.

He did a PhD in new media history and aesthetics at Griffith University entitled “Gameplay and the aesthetics of intimacy”. He has published international scholarly articles in new media studies, and has also contributed to magazines, exhibition catalogues and blogs like NMRG. Recently, The Pleasures of Computer gaming, a collection he edited with Melanie Swalwell, was published by McFarland Scholarly Publishers.

He has also had long involvement in community media, curation, independent music and digital arts.

He originally hails from Townsville, North Queensland, and supports the North Queensland Cowboys Rugby League Club.
